SAFE 400 test kit for carbon monoxide detectors is designed to test the functionality of carbon monoxide (CO) detectors. The kit consists of a can with test gas, a capillary tube, and a practical foil bag that serves as an insulating case. CO detectors do not trigger an immediate alarm. CO sensors are pre-calibrated so that the CO detector triggers an alarm from a certain CO concentration. The insulating case is used to prevent the test gas from dispersing, but instead to create a constant level of gas that will result in the activation of the detector alarm within an appropriate time interval. The insulating case thus makes it possible to maintain an effective amount of calibration gas simulating carbon monoxide around the sensor during the testing process.
Test Procedure
Place the CO detector into a foil insulation pouch. Attach the supplied capillary tube to the plastic atomizer. Insert the tube into the insulation pouch with the detector and seal the pouch by pulling the cord ends around the perimeter of the insulation pouch. Do not remove the air that remains in the pouch. Press the atomizer for 3 seconds. Remove the capillary tube and seal the pouch again by pulling the cords. The detector sensor should trigger an alarm within 3 minutes. If the detector does not trigger an alarm, repeat the test after 15 minutes have elapsed.
